Emma Berthine Evans, 93, of Bemidji, died on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Aardahl Lutheran Church, Frohn Township, Beltrami County, with Rev. Arlen Stensland officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Aardahl Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Roger Olson, Loren Langerak, David Evans, Brian Evans, Randy Evans and Luke Langerak.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1912, to Svein and Kari (Myrhaugen) Teigen, in Park River, N.D. When she was an infant she moved with her family to Bemidji where she attended Sunnyside, a one-room country school in Frohn Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Aardahl Lutheran Church. She married Ernest "Bob" Evans on May 22, 1929, in Alexandria, Minn. They farmed in the Bemidji area. She worked for Bemidji Federal Credit Union, served as treasurer for School District No. 8 for about 18 years, served as secretary-treasurer for Aardahl Cemetery Association for 20 years, served as secretary-treasurer for Frohn Farmer's Union and served as assistant fire warden for 20 years.
She loved reading, sewing, quilting, gardening and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters, LaVerne (Gordon) Olson and Mildred (James) Langerak, both of Bemidji; sons, Elroy (LeAnn) Evans of Wadena, Minn., Robert (Marian) Evans of Bemidji, Kenneth (Rhea) Evans of Anchorage, Alaska, and Norman (Penny) Evans of Bemidji; 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Borghild Kurtti of Bemidji; and a daughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Wallace Evans; daughter, Donna Evans; and sister, Bertha Evans.
