Ellsworth "Sam" Lloyd Sampson died Sept. 3, 2010 in Bozeman, MT

Services have been held in Bozeman, MT under the direction of Dokken Nelson Funeral Home of Bozeman, MT.

He was born Oct. 4, 1925 in Valley City, ND to Asa Lloyd and Sorine (Madsen) Sampson. At the age of 10, he and his family moved to southern Minnesota to live on his grandparent's farm. He attended a one-room school through elementary and graduated from Jackson High School in 1943.

On Feb. 26, 1948 he and Marjorie Erickson were married in Jackson. They farmed for a number of years. In 1961, he went on the road as a sales supervisor in Agra business. The last 17 years he was employed by Farmland, Inc.

The couple purchased a lot on Lake Rabideau near Blackduck in 1963 and he and their boys built a cabin. The family spent weekends and vacations on the lake for many years. They all enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In 1988, he retired and they made their cabin into a year-round home and lived there for the next 20 years.

In 2008, the Sampsons moved to Bozeman, MT to be nearer to their son and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marge; a son Bill (Kris) of Bozeman, MT; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Jon, Kirby and Mike and one sister.
