Elizabeth Thompson, 82, of Minneapolis, died March 21, 2008, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Rice Lake Center in Rice Lake, Minn. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Rice Lake Community Center in Rice Lake and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Samuel Memorial Episcopal Cemetery in Nay-Tah-Waush, Minn. The Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born June 14, 1925, to William and Hattie Thompson in Bagley. She attended boarding schools in Pipestone Minn., and Wahpeton N.D. After school, she returned to the White Earth area and performed various jobs especially sewing and teaching sewing. She raised many of her grandchildren and they appreciated that. She enjoyed powwows, ricing, berry picking, canning and bingo. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Gloria) Thompson of Minneapolis, Robin Herilla of Princeton, Minn., and Donald Thompson of Minneapolis; daughters, Betty (Rick) Foy of Minneapolis, Scheryl Jimenez of Minneapolis and LuAnn Thompson of St. Paul; brother, Elmer (Judy) Thompson of Red Lake; 29 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers; four sisters; daughter, Sharon Wade; son, Charles Thompson; and one grandson.
