Amanda Achen is a new Blackduck Elementary fifth grade teacher who graduated from Lake of the Woods High School and got her degree at Bemidji State University. She did her student teaching in Blackduck and says that she fell in love with the kids and the atmosphere of Blackduck School.
When she’s not busy teaching she spends her time hanging out with friends and family, reading, watching Netflix and playing the saxophone.
Achen comes from a small family: parents, stepfather, brothers and a twin sister. “I couldn’t ask for a better support system,” she said, “Everyone is still in Baudette except my siblings. My brothers live in St. Paul and Utah and my sister is in Bemidji.”
She added, “The best thing about teaching is seeing my kids every day and learning new things about them. Every day is an adventure and it makes my job that much more exciting.”
