Soren Dybing has participated in the Concordia Language Villages program for an eighth year by attending a four-week session at Skogfjorden, the Norwegian Language Village, located near Bemidji. Dybing is the son of Lara and Paul Dybing, Bemidji and will be a 10th grader at Bemidji High School this fall. Dybing also received a Tove Irene Dahl Scholarship to attend the program.
By attending Skogfjorden, the Norwegian Language Village, Dybing experienced a simulated visit to another country. Dybing was issued a passport, exchanged currency and adopted a new name. By interacting with staff from all over the world, Dybing also learned about the many opportunities available to those who speak more than one language. Dybing was immersed in the language and culture of another country through large and small learning groups, authentic foods, holiday celebrations, re-enactments of historic events, songs, dances, crafts, games and everyday conversations.
