Doris Ruth Nelson, age 89, of Bemidji, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Aardahl Lutheran Cemetery, Beltrami County with Rev. Arlen Stensland officiating. Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born on August 21, 1917 in Bemidji to Alonzo and Tressa (Mumford) Morey. She grew up in Bemidji, attending Lincoln Elementary School and Bemidji High School. She married Frank Nelson on August 28, 1936 in Bemidji. They lived in Frohn Township for 35 years before moving to Bemidji. Doris worked as a janitor at Bemidji State College for 11 years. She enjoyed her Free Methodist Women's Group and also taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Judith (Bill) Tolman of Bemidji; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Carol Nelson of Bemidji.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son. Walter Nelson; brother, Rowland Morey; sister, Pearl Hawley and a grandson.
