A 22-year-old Deer River man was charged Feb. 8 with second-degree attempted murder and felony first-degree assault in connection to a shooting that seriously injured Leonard Boyd, 19, address unknown.
Joshua J. Beaulieu was arraigned in Cass County District Court and is currently being held on $500,000 bail, according to Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher.
At about 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 4, authorities found Boyd suffering from a gunshot wound to the face after responding to a report of a shooting in the city of Cass Lake.
Two days after the shooting, Beaulieu, who had fled, was apprehended by Bemidji Police.
Margaret Rock, 20, of Minneapolis was taken into custody in connection to the shooting. She has been released from custody, pending further investigation, according to Fisher.

According to Rock's statements contained in the formal complaint from Cass County District Court, she had been arguing with the victim, who was her boyfriend at the time.
When the argument got physical Rock beckoned the defendant for assistance, and Beaulieu shot Boyd in the face with a nine-millimeter handgun, according to the complaint.
The defendant panicked while the victim struggled several times to get up, according to Rock's statements to investigators contained in the formal complaint.
The complaint goes on to note that Rock told Beaulieu not to kill Boyd, who had collapsed on a mattress, and Rock asked the homeowner to call police, but it was not done immediately.
According to Fisher, Boyd is still in critical condition at a Fargo area hospital.
If convicted on the most serious charge of second-degree attempted murder, Beaulieu could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
