Curling: McCormick win streak ends

"We feel we got beat more by the ice than by China," McCormick said. "They played really well. But I think the ice beat us up more than they did. We hadn't played this sheet and we struggled with draw weight and broom placement."

The petite Chinese team ended their day looking like giants as they defeated Canada's Jennifer Jones in the morning draw when Jones came up heavy with the game's final rock.

It was the worst loss of McCormick as a skip in four appearances at the world championships as her team shot 64 percent compared to China's 80 percent.

USA faced Canada in the late night draw and goes against the Czech Republic (0-6) and Sweden (3-4) today.

China clearly carried its momentum from the morning win into the afternoon contest as Wang converted a double takeout for a point in the first, then stole one in the second.

McCormick matched this point in the third before things went down hill fast.

When McCormick wrecked a guard in the fourth, Wang made an open takeout for three, then stole points in the next four ends to close out the match after eight.

Other seventh draw results found Denmark shading Scotland 7-6 an Japan beating Russia 10-5.
