The community is invited to join in the USA Olympic curling Teams Homecoming Event beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Tourist Information Center at the waterfront on Lake Bemidji.
The celebration will begin with the curling teams autographing a Paul Bunyan-sized curling broom and a photographic session with Paul Bunyan decked out in his curling tam and bronze medal replica, broom and rock.
A "Curling Capital USA" sign will be unveiled, followed by a caravan to Bemidji High School Auditorium. The curling teams will lead the caravan in Joe Dahlby and Wendell Knutson's horse-drawn wagons. Bemidji Mayor Richard Lehmann and other dignitaries will ride in Glenn Johnson's surrey. Fans are invited to join the caravan with their "Hammer Hankies" and decorated brooms.
Following the ceremony, fans are invited to the Bemidji Curling Club open house, with refreshments and an opportunity to try their hand at curling.
