UPDATED: Man shot inside Bemidji apartment

BEMIDJI -- One man was shot early Sunday morning inside the Pine Ridge Apartments in Bemidji.

A news release posted on Facebook by the Bemidji Police Department said that a 24-year-old man was shot and taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Police Chief Mike Mastin said Monday afternoon that the man was shot in the leg and is still alive.

Multiple shots were fired, Mastin said; only one shot hit the victim.

The Bemidji Police Department responded to the report of shots fired at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday at the apartments in the 2800 block of Pine Ridge Avenue Northwest.

Law enforcement is still searching for the suspect, who fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police have not yet identified a person of interest, Mastin said.

Police believe the shooting was an “isolated incident” and that there is no threat to the public, the release said.

The Bemidji Police Department is being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, the Bemidji Fire Department and the Bemidji Ambulance Service.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Bemidji Police Department at (218) 751-9111.
