ST. PAUL (AP) - Attorneys for U.S. Senator Larry Craig are asking that the Minnesota Court of Appeals correct what attorneys are calling a "manifest injustice" stemming from a bathroom sex sting.
It's the latest in a back-and-forth string of filings as the Idaho Republican seeks to overturn his guilty plea to a disorderly conduct charge.
In a 23-page document, plus appendices, Craig's attorneys are asking the appellate judges to reverse the trial court's decision to let Craig's guilty plea stand.
Craig was arrested in June in a bathroom stall at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. He later tried to withdraw his guilty plea, but a Hennepin County judge refused.
Among other things, Craig's attorneys are arguing that the lower court abused its discretion and that the guilty plea is invalid. Prosecutors disagree and argue the judge made the right decision.
