The community is invited to a free meal Feb. 8 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Blackduck Evangelical Free Church, 241 Oscar Ave SW.

The menu will feature Chicken Tetrazzini, salad, bread and bars. All are welcome for an evening of food and fellowship.

Fur trader here

Have you ever met a real fur trader? Come to the Blackduck Golf Course Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. and meet one!

Imagining ourselves back in the 1800s, George Nelson, fur trader with three different fur trade companies -- the XY, the Hudson's Bay and the North West companies will come and join us.

This Minnesota History Player program is brought to Kitchigami Regional Library residents through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant funds. The Minnesota History Player program is part of the Minnesota Historical Society. This program will be of interest to all ages, including children.

Helping Hand Club

The Helping Hand Club will meet at noon Feb. 12 at Countryside Restaurant. Bev Gibson will be the hostess. Note change of time and day. Hope to see you there.

Legion dinner set

Valentine Dinner at the American Legion on Sat., Feb. 13. Menu will be baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, salad bar, rolls, chocolate-cherry dessert and beverage. The cost will be $8.

Wrestling tourney

Blackduck Elementary Wrestling Club will be hosting a quad team Feb. 12 starting at 6 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The following teams will be attending Bemidji, Deer River and Cass Lake. Please come out and support our youth.

The cost is $2 for adults, $1 for kids and preschool and under get in free. Full concessions will be available.

Pancake breakfast

The monthly Kelliher VFW Pancake breakfast will be held Feb. 14 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Kelliher Community Center. The menu consists of all you can eat pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs fixed your way, orange juice, milk and coffee. The cost is $5 and $4 for seniors and children. Profits are donated to the Kelliher Scholarship fund.

Red Hat meeting

The Red Hat luncheon will be held Feb. 10 at noon at the Blackduck American Legion.

Community meal set

First Presbyterian Church in Blackduck will be hosting a community meal, open to any and all at no charge Feb. 15 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Anyone wishing to have a hot meal is welcome to come.

Dinner rescheduled

The German Dinner has been rescheduled for Feb. 21. More information will follow.

Pancake supper/sale

Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church of Puposky will be holding its annual pancake supper/ bake sale will be held Feb. 14 from 4-7 p.m.

This will be a freewill offering.

Meeting change and public hearing set

The regular Blackduck School Board meeting which was set for Feb. 8 has been postponed to Feb. 24 and will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the high school media center

A meeting for the results of the four-day week for Blackduck Public Schools will be Feb. 22 at 7:15 p.m. in the Blackduck High School Media Center.

History Center show

The Blackduck History and Art Center presents HENS AND ROOSTERS! a collection of Marie Juelson's, that will be on display the entire month of February.

The Second Saturday Event will be the center's re-opening celebration, the display's open house and the Fourth Annual Sweetheart Drawing.

The drawing includes a great selection of prizes. Any History and Art Center volunteer will be happy to provide you with tickets for the drawing, which will be held at 3:55 p.m. Feb. 13.

Blackduck Community Education will not be mass mailing a winter/spring catalog. If anyone would like a Community Ed flyer to call 835-5241 and one will be mailed to them.

Parking restrictions

Now that the snow season is here, the city of Blackduck maintenance crew would like to remind residents there is no parking on Main Street or Summit Avenue through April between 1-6 a.m. All city streets, city parking lots and county and state highways within the city are no parking areas on nights during or following snowfall accumulation of two inches or more until the snow has been removed.
