Committee seeks silent auction items for Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week event

BEMIDJI -- As National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week draws closer, the local committee is planning its annual community dinner.

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is Nov. 15 to Nov. 21. The Bemidji committee is inviting the public to a chicken dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and silent auction 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at United Methodist Church, 924 Beltrami Ave. NW in Bemidji.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for a children’s chicken nugget meal. To-go orders will be available.

Proceeds from the event are distributed among agencies that help Bemidji’s homeless population.

The committee is accepting silent auction donations and welcomes volunteers. Those interested in volunteering to help with the dinner or donate silent auction items can contact committee member Angie Lauderbaugh at (218) 368-1059.

Items must be received by Thursday to be included in the auction.

The Bemidji Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Committee includes Bemidji Community Food Shelf, Bemidji School District 31, Bi-County Community Action Programs, Evergreen Youth & Family Services, Northwoods Habitat for Humanity and Village of Hope. Evergreen Youth & Family Services is the fiscal agent for the dinner and checks can be made payable to them.
