BSU softball ends trip on high note

The BSU softball team ended its spring trip on a highly successful note Friday, sweeping a double header from Mt. St. Vincent College at Cocoa Beach, Fla.

The BSU softball team ended its spring trip on a highly successful note Friday, sweeping a double header from Mt. St. Vincent College at Cocoa Beach, Fla.

Not only did the Beavers win both games but they shut out their opponent twice.

That marked the third straight shutout over the Dolphins and the fourth on the southern trip.

Bemidji ended the Florida journey at 7-3, their best early season start in years, perhaps in history.

The seven wins is one more than they recorded all last season when they finished 6-33.

They will return to the diamond April 5, launching their home season with a twin bill against Morris. Mayville will play here a day later in two games.

Allison Willard hurled a two hitter in the opening win, fanning nine and walking four to up her record to 2-1.

Katie Prettyman led the attack with four hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Katie McKenzie went 2-4 with a double and scored twice. Michelle Taylor also had two hits and scored twice.

Lindsey Imhof, who won Thursday's game over the New York team 1-0, posted her second shutout in two days and upped her record to 4-0. She fanned 10.

McKenzie and Jamie Docken each had two hits while Blackduck's Kelly Carlson had a hit and RBI.
