BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Police Department is looking for qualified candidates of all ages and backgrounds to join the Bemidji Police Reserve Program. Applications for the Bemidji Police Reserve Program are available at City Hall, 317 Fourth St. NW, by calling (218) 759-3562 or online at http://ci.bemidji.mn.us/ . Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Dec. 4.
The Bemidji Police Reserve Program’s philosophy is to provide training and experience to adults interested in law enforcement career and to allow citizens to assist the Bemidji Police Department with its day-to-day operations in a volunteer capacity. The Reserve Officer duties may include but are not limited to house watches, retrieval of found property, park patrols, security checks, parking enforcement, public housing patrols, assisting officers with vehicle tows, crime scene security, response to disasters, security at major events and more. Reserve Officers are non-licensed and have no arrest powers.
To be considered, candidates must be least 18 years of age and of good moral character, a U.S Citizen, have no felony convictions including a pardon or crime expunged, have no theft or assault convictions of any level, must possess a valid driver’s license, must complete the application and undergo a thorough background check and interview process.
