PENNINGTON-Former District 5A Rep. Matt Bliss, R-Pennington, will seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in the 2020 election, according to a press release.
Bliss, who owns and operates Bliss Point Resort, won the seat in 2016, defeating District 5A Rep. John Persell, DFL-Bemidji.
Persell then won the seat back in a close 2018 race, decided by 11 votes.

"After taking some time to observe the priorities of our current representative and in consultation with my family and constituents, I have decided that I will once again seek the office of state representative for District 5A," Bliss said in a release.
While in office, Bliss supported bills in the Legislature that resulted in $21 million for a new BSU facility and $12.5 million for a veterans home in Bemidji.
"We did all of this without raising a single penny in taxes," Bliss said in the release. "In fact, we were actually able to reduce taxes during the last two years. I look forward to getting out, listening to the voters and sharing solutions that reflect our northern Minnesota values and priorities."
