Bertha R. Brayton, 90, of Winnebago, died on Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Parker-Oaks in Winnebago.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at First Baptist Church in Winnebago with the Rev. Tom Butler officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Dikker's Hall in Parker Oaks. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Winnebago. The Spencer-Owen Funeral Home of Winnebago assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born on Sept. 10, 1915, to George and Glee (Johnston) Curtis, in Sewal, Iowa. She was raised in the southern Iowa and Chicago areas. She graduated from Callumette High School in Chicago. She attended Moody Bible College in Chicago, where she met and later married Elmer W. Brayton on Oct. 19, 1935.
She was a homemaker and minister's wife for many years. The couple came to Winnebago in 1965 where he was the administrator of Parker Oakes. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and was active in several church groups through the years.
She is survived by her daughters, Juanita (Harold) McAulliffe of Pittsford, N.Y., and Beth (Bob) Oelke of Puposky; and five grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Johnson and DeLee Curtis; and brother, Elvis Curtis.
