Savannah Osborn made her mark this winter as the stellar goalie for the Bemidji High School girls hockey team, helping the team reach the state tournament for the firs time in seven years.

What was lesser known, however, is that the Crookston transfer was the defending Minnesota Golden Gloves champion.

And she successfully defended her title this weekend, making it two straight when she scored a close decision over 23-year-old Katie LaSarre of Chippewa Falls, Wis., at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minn.

She has accepted an academic scholarship to the University of Minnesota next fall and hopes to continue her hockey career with the Gophers.

If so, she will be the second 2007 BHS graduate to join the WCHA ranks.
