Beltrami County History Center

The Beltrami County Historical Society celebrated its 50th year in 2002. Though the center has moved several times, it is now located in the former Great Northern Depot building. The depot offers an ideal setting for the historical collection that now numbers more than 105,000 pieces, including American Indian and settlement artifacts, textiles, old maps, photographs, newspapers and manuscripts.

In addition to the exhibits, the center's staff offers research services and photo reprints. A meeting room is set up for educational programs. The center also has a gift shop. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. BCHS also offers memberships.
Headwaters Science Center

The Headwaters Science Center gives visitors a chance see science at work in a hands-on environment. It is in its ninth year and features such highlights as a live animal collection and a gift shop with science-related items. Workshops and resources for teachers help spread the word about science and environmental awareness. Demonstrations and experiments are held for the young and the young at heart. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memberships are available.
The Headwaters Science Center is a non-profit facility under a parent organization called Opportunities in Science, Inc. HSC is dedicated to science education and environmental awareness.
Opened in 1994, it is the only such facility between Winnipeg, Canada and Minneapolis affiliated with the Association of Science and Technology Centers.
