BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man was found dead Saturday after succumbing to the cold and injuries near his residence.
According to a release from the Bemidji Police Department, Gordon Norris, 31, was found dead at about 11:25 a.m. near the Park Place Apartments.
The recently opened apartment complex, located at 600 Third St. NW, serves people with substance abuse issues, as well as the recently homeless.
Police reviewed security footage and found that Norris, a resident of Park Place, left the building through a side door at about 3:18 a.m. Saturday. He lost his balance several times as he tried to walk around the south side of the building, the release said, and was seen on security footage falling in the snow.
Norris was unable to get back up and “succumbed to injuries sustained during the falls and the extreme cold,” the release said.
