Minnewaska was the best team to deal with the adverse weather conditions Friday and ran away from the field to retain its Bemidji Invitational golf title.

Playing in wind and cold before the snow arrived at Bemidji Town & Country Club, the Glenwood team won with a four player low total of 330.

Detroit Lakes was a distant second at 365, two strokes ahead of Grand Rapids. Staples-Motley was fourth at 382 with Bemidji rounding out the top five at 384.

That represented a 62 stroke improvement over Bemidji's opening meet at Chaska.

Fourteen of the 18 schools scheduled to play in the meet showed up to brave the elements which grew progressively worse in the mid afternoon.

By that, time, however, most of the players had finished or were nearly done.

Danelle Olson of Detroit Lakes took medalist honors with a six over par 78, outstanding for the weather conditions.

Minnewaska then took over. Allie Ostrander and Sara Roering hit 82 while Courtney Boe, Emily Roering and Chelsea Falk had 83's. Only two of the 83's counted in the scoring.

Of those five, only Falk will graduate this year with the majority of the other four freshmen and sophomores.

Lynn Arndt led Bemidji at 92. Shelby Sauer and Katie Reise 96 and Kelsey Bretschneider 100 to complete the scoring.

Lisa Holtman had 103 and Katelyn Tingelstad 119 as the kickers.

The Bemidji JV tied for eighth at 408.

Emily Frosaker had 94 and Stiina Stocker 96 to lead this team. Megan Phelps' 104 and Erin Buckanaga's 114 completed the scoring. The kickers were Liza Tingelstad 129 and Marissa Loch 138,
