WASHINGTON -- Bemidji Regional Airport is receiving a $1.2 million federal grant for airport expansion, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, DFL-Minn., said Wednesday.
The funding through the Federal Aviation Administration will help provide access to a future general aviation apron and hanger area by providing funding for the construction of a taxiway and improvements to the airport terminal, Klobuchar said in a statement.
Also part of the FAA funding for aviation safety and infrastructure is $2.1 million for the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport for aircraft deicing equipment and snow removal equipment. Also, it will help fund several infrastructure needs.
"This funding ensures that Minnesota's regional airports continue to be among the safest and most reliable in the nation," Klobuchar said in a statement. "Our businesses and families rely on these airports to attract new businesses and connect them to the world."
