A 14-year-old is in custody in Anoka County Tuesday morning after leading police officers on a chase in western Wisconsin Monday afternoon.

The string of incidents leading to the 14-year-old’s arrest began in Eau Claire County when he allegedly stole a vehicle, brandished a handgun and attempted an armed robbery at a residence before leading police on a chase.

He abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot for several miles in Star Prairie, Wis. before stealing and abandoning another vehicle, according to a joint news release from St. Croix and Polk counties in Wisconsin.

Officers received reports of a gunshot in the area they were searching Monday night.

As of Monday night, police were searching for the boy along the border of St. Croix and Polk counties.
