Area girls basketball tournaments got under way Monday night and continuethroughout the week.
The 8A West opener tonight sends Grygla against Fertile at Northland Community College.
Thursday, that winner goes against top seeded RLCC and fifth seeded Red Lake Falls takes on fourth seeded Win-E-Mac at Fosston.
At BSU, seventh ranked Indus meets second seeded Clearbrook-Gonvick at 6:30 p.m. and No. 3 Fosston goes against No. 6 Kelliher/Northome at 8 p.m.
The semifinals are March 4 and the final March 6 at Thief River's Ralph Engelstad Arena at 6:30 and 8.

The 8A West opener at Northland tonight pits No. 8 KCN against No. 9 Sacred Heart.
On Thursday at Northland, No. 1 BGMR takes on the Tuesday winner while No. 5 Stephen/Argyle meets No. 4 Warren.
At UMC, No. 7 Fisher-Climax goes against No. 2 KCC at 6:30 and No. 3 Northern Freeze (Tri-County-MCC) takes on No. 6 NCW.
The semifinals are at Engelstad March 4 at 1 and 2:30 with the title game at the same site March 6. That will also be the home of the section final March 10 at 7.
Section 6A
In Section 6A, the east subsection saw Cass Lake-Bena beatLake Region Christian 64-39. Thursday the Panthers travel to No. 1 seeded Nevis at 6:30 p.m. at Park Rapids while No. 4 Laporte faces No. 5 Hill City at 8 p.m.
At Nevis, No. 3 Menahga meets No. 7. Remer at 6:30 and No. 3 Verndale battles No. 6 Sebeka at 8.
The semifinals are Saturday at Park Rapids and the final at Park Rapids March 6.

The west sub-section openers Thursday pit No. 8 New York Mills at No. 1 Ada, No. 5 Park Christian at No. 4 Rothsay, No. 7 NCE at No. 2 Ulen-Hitterdal and No. 6 Waubun at No.3 LPA.
Saturday's semifinals will be at Concordia at 1 and 2:30 with the first two winners clashing in the earlier contest.
The final is at Concordia March 6 at 6 with the section final March 10 at 7, also at Concordia.
Section 8-2A
The 8-2A North will open Thursday with No. 8 Mahnomen at No. 1 Crookston, No. 5 Bagley at No. 4 Roseau, No. 7 Red Lake at No. 2 East Grand Forks and No 6 Warroad at No. 2 WHA.
The semifinals are at UMC Saturday and the final at UMC March 6.
The section title game is at UMC March 10.
