Albert John Johnson, 89, of Laporte, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A time of sharing and visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Hanson Funeral Home in Racine, Wis. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Graceland Cemetery in Racine.
Pallbearers will be Kelvin Hughs, Buck Johnson, Brett Johnson, Brian Johnson, Paul Corson and David Corson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He was born on June 14, 1916, to Albert and Lucy (Ruzicka) Johnson, in Racine. He grew up in Racine County, where he attended school. After the eighth grade, at the age of 12, he worked as a hired hand on a dairy farm. In 1936, he began working for J.I. Case in Racine. He married Margaret Mikulecky on March 15, 1940, in Racine, and they farmed in Racine County. During World War II, his job was considered "essential industry" at Rassemen Machine Company. Later he worked at Oster Manufacturing for eight and a half years in the tool and die section. He also worked as a second shift foreman for two and a half years at Jacobsons Manufacturing. He worked in the tool and die industry for 35 years.

He retired in 1977, moving to Minnesota in 1978. He served on the Hendrickson Town Board for one term. He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Racine.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Hughs of Laporte; and nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Johnson; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Violet Horvath and Anna Hess; and three grandchildren.
