Addie L. Jones Maples Hensel, 82, of Park Rapids, formerly of Flippen, Ga., died on Monday, April 16, 2007, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Rev. W.F. "Bill" Neumann, Rev. James Neubauer and Rev. Matthew Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Flippen Cemetery. The Jones-Pearson Funeral Home of Park Rapids assisted the family with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Chad Hensel, Josh Hensel, Fred Elrod, Jason Elrod, Terry Kilian and Jeff Hensel.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1925, to Julia Leola (Heath) Jones and James Bartow Jones, in Atlanta, Ga. She was raised and attended school in Atlanta. She met her first husband, Glen Maples, at the PX at Fort MacPherson Army Base. They were married on Feb. 29, 1944, and had five children and 25 years together. He died on April 16, 1969. On March 22, 1972, she married Willis "Buck" Hensel, and they made their home in Osage Township for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband of Park Rapids; children, Judy (Harold) Elrod of Locust Grove, Ga., Linda Truxton of Bemidji, Bill (Jackie) Maples of Flippen and Ilene Maples of Park Rapids; a sister-in-law; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; son, Gene Maples; a granddaughter; sister, Bernice Moore; and brothers, Millard and Harry Jones.
