WILLMAR, Minn. — A Willmar man who was hauling a truckload of live turkeys was killed in an early morning rollover crash Friday.
Roads were icy at the time of the crash, which was reported at 12:36 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12 near Willmar.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Gary Kim Vergin, 65, was driving a 2014 International Prostar when he lost control of the vehicle, which then rolled into the ditch.
Vergin was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the State Patrol.
According to the report, he was wearing his seat belt, and his airbag deployed. Alcohol was not involved.
The accident closed U.S. Highway 12 for nearly 10 hours and traffic was diverted to Kandiyohi County roads.
