Man dies Saturday after falling between Green Line cars in Minneapolis
A man died Saturday morning when he fell off a light rail platform in Minneapolis and was pulled under the train.
Metro Transit police say the man was on the Green Line train platform at the Stadium Village station about 1:20 a.m. The station is located at University Avenue and 23rd Avenue on the University of Minnesota campus. As the westbound train pulled away, the man fell off the platform between two cars.
He died at the scene, said Howie Padilla, Metro Transit spokesman.
Police are working with the Hennepin County Medical Examiner to identify the man.
Padilla said he did not know if the man was a student, but said he was not a young adult.
Police will be looking at video and interviewing witnesses, Padilla said. "Anything they can do to try to piece together what brought that man to fall between the rail cars."
Train service was delayed for over an hour.
