Child hurt in vehicle collision with cow

SHOOKS TOWNSHIP -- An 11-year-old boy was hurt Friday morning when the truck he was riding in collided with a cow.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, Royal Dean Larson, 45, of Windom, Minn., was driving a 2014 Ford pickup truck east on Highway 1 in Shooks Township at about 12:09 a.m. when he hit a cow in the road.

Larson was not hurt, but his 11-year-old passenger sustained non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. Both the driver and the child were wearing seat belts.

No information about the condition of the cow was available.
