BEMIDJI-Thirty-two Minnesota 4-H youth and nine adults will be representing Minnesota at the 20th annual National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships to be held in Grand Island, Neb., June 23-28. The 32 youth will represent 20 counties throughout Minnesota and were selected through an application process following their participation in the 2018 Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Invitational.

National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational participants from Beltrami County 4-H include Beltrami Bullseyes 4-H Club member Dalton Gjorvik, in Air Rifle and Isaac Klejeski in Air Pistol, a member of the Open Range Ropers 4-H Club. Beltrami County 4-H will also be represented by two volunteer instructors-Mike Porter (.22 pistol/Air pistol/Air rifle) and Rose Erickson (Air pistol) who will be attending as coaches for the Minnesota 4-H Team.

The Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Program began in the 1980s and has grown to nearly 4,000 4-H members and 1,000 adult leaders. 4-H members may become involved in the 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Program in the following disciplines: Air Rifle & Air Pistol, Archery, .22 Rifle, Muzzleloading, Shotgun and Wildlife. Adults can become certified discipline instructors by attending a weekend workshop and instructing youth in their county.
