Unmasking Brain Injury event planned for May 28
BEMIDJI -- Sanford Bemidji Medical Center will hold an Unmasking Brain Injury event 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at the Education Center, 1300 Anne St. NW. The goal of the Veterans Unmasking Brain Injury Project is to bridge the divide between veterans and civilians through art that communicates their unique perspectives about life with brain injury.
In March 2016, the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance began the statewide community-based art project, enlisting the participation of more than a thousand individuals living with the effects of brain injury to design masks that communicated their unique perspectives and altered outlooks. It gave survivors and caregivers a voice to illuminate their life with a brain injury, a release said.
During the event these masks will be on display, along with a showing of The Unmasking movie and a panel discussion. RSVP required by May 10. Call (218) 333-5856 or visit sanfordhealth.org to register. To learn more, visit https://www.braininjurymn.org/unmasking/.
