FARGO- A fallen U.S. Marine from Karlstad, Minnesota was returned home early Friday morning, Jan. 11.

Riley S. Kuznia, 20, arrived as part of his dignified transfer to Hector International Airport in Fargo late Thursday evening.


After departing the airport, an escort accompanied the hearse carrying Kuznia for the 154 mile journey back to his hometown of Karlstad, Minnesota.

People lined the roads to welcome Kuznia back to Karlstad.




After Kuznia's arrival on Friday morning, a U.S. flag flying in the front yard of the home where he lived was lowered.

A photograph was posted to the Tri-County School Facebook page showing the lowering take place.


A visitation will be held at First Lutheran in Karlstad at 6p.m. Friday evening.

Kuznia's funeral service will take place at Tri-County School at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12th.

Prior to his service in the U.S. Marines, Kuznia graduated from Tri-County School in 2017.
