Red Lake, Leech Lake tribal colleges to receive $157,000 for humanities projects
BEMIDJI—Special projects at a pair of Bemidji-area tribal colleges are in line for grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Red Lake Nation College and Leech Lake Tribal College are set to receive $97,000 and $60,000, respectively.
In Red Lake, that money will go toward a student podcast series about Ojibwe language, culture and history.
In Leech Lake, funding will go to "Women of Leech Lake Nation Stories: Historical Trauma and Colonization," a collection of Ojibwe women's historical narratives.
The endowment will send a total of $14.8 million to 253 humanities projects across the United States and Puerto Rico, according to a release
