Bemidji men convicted in 2017 home invasion in Red Lake

DULUTH—Two Bemidji men were convicted Friday for their part in a November 2017

home invasion on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

Shanise Ostlund, 29, and Kevin Robertson, 32, both of Bemidji, were each convicted of one count of second-degree burglary and one count of robbery in U.S. District Court in Duluth.

Two other defendants, Derek Paddy, 22, of Red Lake, and Cherai Clark, 25, of Redby, already have pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree burglary, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office.

The charges, according to the release, stem from an incident that began with a brawl at a Bemidji department store on Nov. 24, 2017. After the fight, the four defendants drove to the victim's residence where they broke into the home, meaning to fight the victim. The victim had escaped through a window in the home, the release said. The defendants then stole multiple items from the home, the release said.
