7th annual Sustainability Tour set for July 28
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Sustainability Committee is gearing up for its seventh annual tour to highlight environmentally friendly initiatives around the community.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, with tours offered throughout the day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to a press release, each location will offer hour-long tours.
This year’s locations will include presentations on reducing energy costs, increasing energy independence and food independence and protecting wildlife.
Stops on the tour include the homes of three families who’ve worked to make their houses sustainable.
The tour will also include:
- A presentation at the Bemidji Public Library by the Bemidji Garden Club about native pollinator plantings.
- A presentation on tiny homes constructed by BSU students at the American Indian Resource Center.
- A presentation on a community solar garden at Beltrami Electric Cooperative.
