Ponsford man charged after sting

BEMIDJI -- A Ponsford man was charged with a felony Tuesday after allegedly arranging to meet and have sex with an undercover officer posing as a child.

According to a criminal complaint:

Lukas Devlen Fineday, 20, came in contact with law enforcement after he posted an ad on Craigslist titled “young native.” The ad allegedly stated that Fineday was seeking “any type of woman that’s down for anything.”

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents responded to the ad, claiming to be a 15-year-old Bemidji girl.

Fineday texted the agents, who sent a message in which they claimed to be a child. Fineday replied and asked to meet for sex.

The agents -- still posing as a child -- agreed to meet with Fineday at the Super 8 hotel in Bemidji on Sept. 10 in order to have sex. They arrested him when he stopped at Walmart before the meeting.

Fineday was charged with one count of engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child. His next court date was not scheduled as of Tuesday afternoon.
