BEMIDJI -- Britney Hall was waiting outside the Paul Bunyan Mall at 5 a.m. Friday.

By 9:30 a.m., another 500 people joined her in line.

Friday was the re-grand opening for JCPenney. The last three months have been spent renovating and adding a Sephora store and Disney areas inside JCPenney.

Michael Beard, general manager of the Bemidji JCPenney, said they think adding the 400 square-foot Sephora beauty line store would draw in more people, to the store and the mall.

“Making these renovations will help make the Paul Bunyan Mall the most popular shopping location in Northern Minnesota,” he said.

The re-grand opening officially was at 10 a.m., and the store gave away 100 JCPenney gift cards, 650 Sephora sample bags, 100 inStyle sample bags and 100 Disney plush toys.

JCPenney also gave the Boys & Girls Club of Bemidji $500 in gift cards to take students in need back-to-school shopping and many students were present at the ribbon cutting.
