GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Colorado State Patrol troopers arrested four men suspected of transporting more than two dozen roosters across the country for cockfighting.

Trooper Gilbert Mares told KMGH in Colorado that the men had 27 roosters in vented cardboard containers. He says investigators suspect the animals were being taken from California to Minnesota, where the men live.

Mares says a state trooper discovered the roosters after pulling over the men's minivan for a traffic violation on Interstate 70 in Jefferson County. The men arrested are, Dang Vang, 23; Billy Thao, 21; Sieng Vang, 24; and Ma Vang, 25. They face a felony charge of animal fighting.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture took the animals to a shelter where they are being held as evidence.
