Holiday concert at Paul Bunyan Mall on Saturday

BEMIDJI -- BSU’s Department of Music and the local chapter of the National Association for Music Education is hosting the third annual NAfME Holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Paul Bunyan Mall, 1401 Paul Bunyan Drive NW. The event started in 2013 with about 10 middle school students and a few college students on campus for an hourlong program. The event has now grown to an eight-hour program with more than 100 people performing throughout the day. The schedule is:

  • 10 a.m. Solo piano by Molly Bass

  • 10:30 a.m. Solo accordion by Fisher Jambor

  • 11 a.m. Lumberladies

  • 11:30 a.m.  Bemidji Middle School sing along

  • Noon. BSU Jazz Trio

  • 12:30 p.m. Bemidji Brass Quintet

  • 1 p.m. Tuba Christmas

  • 2 p.m. Blue Ice Big Band

  • 3 p.m. Nary Brass Sextet

  • 3:30 p.m. Pa-Rum-Pum-Pum-Drum Circle

  • 4 p.m. First City Handbell Choir

  • 5 p.m. Bemidji Middle School, Bemidji High School and community small ensembles

There will also be children's workshops including Christmas bingo, coloring contests and crafts, according to a release. Children will also have the opportunity to work with musical instruments that they will use to perform for Santa. All activities are free but a free-will offering will be accepted.
