Dayton appoints Bemidji's Preece as chair of state forestry council
BEMIDJI—Bemidji resident Kathleen Preece was appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to serve as chair of the Minnesota Forest Resources Council, the governor's office announced Thursday.
Preece is replacing Robert Stine of the University of Minnesota's College of Continuing Education and will officially take over as chair on Monday. Preece, who was on the Information Management Committee as a member of the council, will end her term on Jan. 7, 2019.
The Minnesota Forest Resources Council was established by the Sustainable Forest Resources Act of 1995 and promotes long-term sustainable management of Minnesota's forests.
