PARK RAPIDS -- David Paul Patterson, 51, of Laporte was found guilty Wednesday night of possessing seven pounds of marijuana with intent to sell it, according to a release from the Hubbard County Attorney's Office.

Patterson was arrested in January 2014 after Hubbard County Sheriff's deputies and agents of both the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Patterson's residence on Hubbard County Road 45 in Laporte and seized more than seven pounds of marijuana valued at more than $10,000, as well as more than $1,000 in cash, as well as five firearms and a digital scale.

During the trial, Patterson said he had the marijuana because he was making marijuana oil for medicinal purposes, according to previous media reports.
