The final field for the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials was completed last weekend with Bemidji's Pete Fenson rink falling one game short of gaining one of the final four spots.

Fenson was the skip on the 2006 U.S. team that won the Olympic bronze medal.

Teams skipped by John Shuster, Craig Disher, Greg Romaniuk and Craig Brown advanced to complete the final field of 10. Romaniuk and Brown ended 6-3, one game ahead of Fenson and Jason Larway at 5-4.

Gaining the women's final field were Aileen Sormunen, Cristin Clark Amy Wright and Margie Smith.

The Team Trials will take place Feb. 21-28 in Colorado. The winning teams will be nominated to the U.S. Olympic Committee as Team USA for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

They will also represent the United States at the 2009 World Curling Championships.

Earning berths at the Olympic Trials earlier at the qualifying meets were Chris Plys, Tyler George, Kevin Deeren, Todd Birr, Mike Farbelow and Mark Johnson in the men's division

In the women's they were Gillian Gervais, Cassie (Johnson) Potter, Debbie McCormick, Erika Brown, Patti Lank and Clarissa Lin.

Sisters Cassie Potter and Jamie Haskell, who grew up in Bemidji, are the skip and third on the Potter rink. They both competed in the 2006 Olympics.

Natalie (Simenson) Nicholson of Bemidji is lead on the McCormick foursome. Sarah Lehman of Bemidji is the third on the Gervais rink.
