Delvis Aaron Benais Sr., 46, of Moorhead, Minn., died on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at his home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Little Rock Community Center near Red Lake. Dennis Black will officiate. Visitation began Saturday at the Community Center and will continue until the service. The Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Tejohn, Tony Strong, Sheila Conouyer, LeeAnn Sumner, Bohn boys and Russell Atkinson. Casket bearers will be Delvis Benais Jr., Virgil Benais, Frank Barrett, Darren Benais, Gene Barrett Jr., Wayne Nass and Stuart Sumner.

Delvis Aaron Benais was born on April 29, 1961, in Red Lake to Grace Nass (Benais Barrett) and Max Thomas of Roseau River, Manitoba. His stepfather was Wayne Nass. Delvis was in a band with his brothers. He loved playing guitar and listening to music. For several years Delvis lived in Bemidji with his significant other, Judy Erickson, and his seven children. Then he moved to Moorhead and lived with his mother and stepfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including great nephew T-Bone and great niece Racquel. He loved his grandchildren dearly.

Delvis is survived by his parents; children Kristie Benais, Kristen Benais, Erin Benais, Leah Benais, Delvis Benais Jr., Troy Benais and Barbie Erickson; sisters LeeAnn (Stuart) Sumner of Fargo, N.D., and Sheila (Darrell) Conouyer of Moorhead; brothers Virgil (Connie) Benais of Moorhead, Darren (Mary) Benais of Cass Lake, Gene (Izetta) Barrett of Squaw Lake, Minn., Frank Barrett of Red Lake, and Curtis (Samantha) Laroque of Squaw Lake; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and aunts and uncles.
