Bemidji DDA becomes Bemidji Downtown Alliance

BEMIDJI — The Bemidji Downtown Development Authority is now the Bemidji Downtown Alliance.

BDA President Ken Cobb announced in a release Wednesday the economic and civic development group was changing its name effective immediately.

The BDA’s board of directors felt the new name would more accurately describe the nonprofit’s mission “to promote and enhance our vibrant downtown,” according to Cobb

Cobb said the new name better symbolizes the member-driven nature of the BDA. “Downtown Alliance” also mirrors the broader scope of the group’s activity, he added.

“In addition to promoting downtown economic development, which was the focus of the former name, the board is working to promote and enhance downtown Bemidji through special events, marketing, assets and their customer-first parking program,” the release said.
