BEMIDJI -- A children's screening clinic, sponsored by the Headwaters Shrine Club of Bemidji, was held at the Sanford Bemidji Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic on Friday morning.

Members of Shrine clubs from around the state came to visit with patients in the waiting room while they waited for their appointments. BSU football players Jared Henning and Elijah Huff also visited with patients and colored with the children to help put them at ease.

Shriners Healthcare personnel examined children and provided information to parents about Shriners Healthcare for Children in the Twin Cities. They focused on treating children ages 18 and younger with orthopedic (muscle, bone and joint) conditions.

Acceptance for these screenings is based on a child’s medical needs, regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.
