Concert at First Lutheran on Aug. 4

BEMIDJI -- Musicians Téa Renee, Tyler Bublitz and Sarah Carlson will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at First Lutheran Church, 900 Bemidji Ave. N.

Téa Renee is an award-winning musician who has had a love for music since she was a child. She has written more than 60 original songs and produced her own album “Broken Doll,” which is now available on all streaming services, a release said. She also has won many awards for her classical singing and has performed jazz with professional jazz artists all around the world, the release said. She will be attending Berklee College of Music in Boston in the fall.

Other featured musicians for this concert will be Bublitz on percussion and Carlson on piano. Free-will donations accepted at the door.

Bemidji Area Christian Women's Dinner Aug. 19

BEMIDJI--Area women are invited to the Christian Women's Dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at the Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave. SE, back entrance.

Along with the meal, the program will feature music by Sam and Tim Pinkerton of Bemidji. The speaker will be Kris Roberts from Brandon, S.D. She will share her story: "Looking for a Special Trophy: An avid bowler's quest for a trophy."

BACM presents next summer recital Aug. 7

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Area Church Musicians summer recital series will continue at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2508 Washington Ave. S.

The recital will feature Jennifer Ellis, a pianist and harpist who grew up in Bemidji and is now a stay-at-home mother in Fargo. Her program will include variations on Mozart’s theme commonly known as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” Also included is a piano sonata by Scarlatti, a piano and organ hymn duet with Shar Paquette and several pieces on Celtic harp, a release said.

A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced. A free-will offering will be received at the door for the Scholarship and Fellowship programs of the Bemidji Area Church Musicians.

Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship set to meet

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Area Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship will meet at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, in the community room at Beltrami Electric, 4111 Technology Drive.

A light breakfast will be served. Come hungry and join in on the food, worship, testimonies and fellowship with men and women for a time of refreshing, a release said.

The guest speaker will be Tim Urbaniak from Argyle, Minn. Him and his wife have two sons and eight grandchildren. He is a deacon at Harvest Community Church in Warren.

Trinity Lutheran Church to hold meatball dinner

DEBS -- Trinity Lutheran Church of Debs will hold its annual meatball dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at 26685 Debs Road NW. The meal will include meatballs with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, homemade breads and pies. There will also be live music, craft and bake sale and drawings. The cost for dinner is a free-will donation.

Trinity Lutheran to hold annual chicken dinner

LAPORTE -- Trinity Lutheran Church of Laporte will hold annual chicken dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The church is located at 150 Second St. NW. No reservations are needed, all are welcome.

St. Philip’s Church to host block party Aug. 24

BEMIDJI -- St. Philip’s Church will host an end of summer block party from 4 to 10 p.m. on

Saturday, Aug. 24. St. Philip’s is located at 702 Beltrami Ave. NW.

The Kids’ Carnival, bake sale and silent auction will conclude at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to everyone.

This event will replace the parish’s annual Fall Festival. Many things will be familiar and fun -- Kids’ Carnival, inflatables, 50/50 Raffle, Culver’s custard, Papa Murphy’s pizza, Knights of Columbus footlong hotdogs, silent auction, bake sale and some new things. There will be live entertainment from local band Empty Cooler, as well as a beer tent, cornhole tournament, small children’s area and lawn games. In addition, The Clothing Depot will be open special hours, a release said.

Admission is free, activity, food and beer tickets will be sold at the event.
