Bemidji Area Aglow to meet July 13
BEMIDJI -- Bemidji Area Aglow will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, in the community room at Beltrami Electric, 4111 Technology Drive NW.
Sharon Dolezal will be the featured speaker. She has been active in Aglow since 2002 after moving to Bemidji. Dolezal embraced her faith in the 1980s. She will share some highlights from her spiritual journey and some important things she has learned about Christian community, forgiveness and prayer, a release said.
Strikepoint handbell ensemble to perform July 25
WALKER -- Strikepoint, one of the world’s top handbell ensembles, will be performing at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at Hope Lutheran Church, 305 10th St. S. Admission is free, but a $15 donation is suggested. This performance is part of the group’s 2019 summer tour.
Strikepoint, from First United Methodist Church in Duluth, was established in 1984 and has been touring annually since 1986. Their travels have taken them to England, Scotland, Japan, Hong Kong, Sweden, Canada, Hawaii and throughout the mainland U.S.
Trinity Lutheran Church to hold summer concert
CASS LAKE -- Trinity Lutheran church will host a summer concert featuring pianist Wayne Hoff and other musicians from the Bemidji area at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at the church, 6810 U.S. Highway 2 in Cass Lake. The concert will feature vocals, instrumental, jazz and ragtime music. All are welcome, cake and ice cream will be served following the performance.
BACM presents next summer recital July 17
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Area Church Musicians summer recital series will continue at noon on Wednesday, July 17, at First Baptist Church, 1555 Paul Bunyan Drive NW.
The concert will feature the Bemidji Brass Quintet, a group of local musicians who gather together to play classic brass works and arrangements as well as show tunes, jazz, and contemporary music. The Bemidji Brass Quintet includes Kyle Riess and Shelby Shinbarger, on trumpet, Eve Sumsky on horn, Ryan Webber on trombone, and Brennan Paulson on tuba.
A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced. A free-will offering will be received at the door for the Scholarship and Fellowship programs of the Bemidji Area Church Musicians.
Aardahl Lutheran Church to hold summer festival
BEMIDJI -- Aardahl Lutheran Church will hold their Summer Music and BBQ Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14. Cost for adults is $8, free for children 10 and younger. Music will be performed by Antonio Arce, Not Your Average Family Band, John Henningsgaard & Friends, and Figuring It Out (Abello Family). Barbeque pulled pork sandwiches, beans, cole slaw, chips and Pepsi products will be served. Aardahl Lutheran Church is located at 2920 Van Buren Ave. SE.
Bemidji Area Women's Dinner set for July 15
BEMIDJI -- Area women are invited to the Christian Women's Dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 15, at the Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave. SE, back entrance.
Along with the meal, the program will feature patriotic and gospel music with Karen Stish and family: Samuel on violin, Anna on flute, and dad, Wayne Johnson, on violin. The speaker will be Joyce Yexley from West Fargo, N.D. She will share her story: "A Broken Dream--From Fiery Trial to New Purpose." Cost of the meal and program is $12.
