Here is Vicky’s story:

"Growing up in a religious home, I was raised to believe that you had to go to church each Sunday; there was no choice. I did not enjoy it; there was no fellowship; I got nothing out of the sermon, rituals, or gospel readings. When I asked questions, there didn't seem to be answers; no part of it was ever explained in a way that was easy to understand. I really felt that going to church had been a waste of time.

"When I became a young adult, I rebelled by not attending church services at all. I have always believed in God and that Jesus walked by my side, but I didn't know much about how to accept him and incorporate those beliefs into my everyday life.

"There was always something missing in my life; a void I didn't know how to fill. Looking back, I searched for the answers for many years, in many ways.

"Eight years ago, I found myself in middle age, going through some very trying personal times. During that difficult time, one of my best friends invited me to join her and her husband at a church service at Prairie Heights. She had invited me before and I scoffed at the idea. Her friendship meant a lot to me, and I knew she was praying for me, so I eventually agreed to join them.

"Being so warmly welcomed as I walked in was very inviting; the volunteers seemed so genuine! The surprisingly upbeat music was infectious, but the message was unbelievable! It's hard to explain, but I felt this warm feeling come over me as the sermon started; I was quickly drawn into this experience because I understood the context of the Bible passages! The tears flowed. I felt overwhelmed and loved, by my friends who persuaded me to come and by Jesus. He had always been there for me, I just needed to allow him to be a part of my life!

"Keeping Jesus in my daily life has made a huge difference in how I live and in my relationships. I have become a better person. I’ve made several next steps and now I enjoy being one of those people that cheerfully greets people as they come through the doors of the church looking to enrich their lives. My Prairie Heights family is a family I am proud to be a part of!

"Many people, professionally and personally, have crossed my path throughout the past few years for a reason. Some have helped me grow spiritually and others I have helped to grow spiritually. My life has changed in so many ways and I am forever grateful I said Yes! to Jesus and allowed him to hold my hand through my journey. My life is so much richer now.

"I didn’t know Jesus as a child, teen, or young adult. I was lost. With the acceptance of Jesus into my life, I have been found.”

Vicky describes what I obsess about. I want every person on the face of planet Earth to connect with Christ and a church family. I believe that is what Jesus gave his life for and what I am willing to die for.

God bless you. See you next Sunday!
