Valentine's Day weekend offerings are sure to please every taste as the events include "Love Songs and Arias," Bluegrass and Americana, a family trio and the return of "Seussical the Musical." The show presents many Seuss characters like Horton the Elephant, Mayzie, Gertrude McFuzz, Sour Kangaroo and Cat in the Hat in a musical romp. Directed by Cate Belleveau and music director Suzy Jones, the show is a presentation of the Mask and Rose Women's Theater Collective and performance times are 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Bemidji High School Auditorium. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at Brigid's Cross Irish Pub and at the door beginning one hour before show times.
History Center
Beltrami County Historical Society will be holding its annual Valentine, White Elephant and Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. The center is accepting donations of new or gently used items that can be dropped off at 130 Minnesota Ave. S.W. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Saturday.
Bluegrass concert
Lonely Pines Concert will return to Bemidji with featured groups Junior Sisk & Rambler's Choice and the Woodpicks at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the historic Chief Theatre, 314 Beltrami Ave. N.W. The Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association, in cooperation with their local sponsors Ken Berge Construction, Super 8 Motel, KRKB Music Outlet and Overbeek Electronics, will bring these traditional Bluegrass and Americana groups to Bemidji as part of a tour. Tickets may be purchased at KRKB and Overbeek Electronics and cost $14 in advance and $16 on the day of the show; $8 for teens and free for children 12 years old and younger. All seating is general.

Family band
Northern Bass Family Band (Dan, Louise and Brian Bass) will perform a benefit concert to support the scholarship program at Headwaters School of Music and the Arts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, Headwaters School, 519 Minnesota Ave. N.W. Tickets are $10 per person and will be sold at the door.
TV series
Common Ground, a new series by Lakeland Public Television, is a magazine show based on Northern Minnesota's arts, history, culture and heritage. It airs at 7 p.m. Thursdays. This week, the featured stories are the history behind the Headwaters Basket Makers Guild, a look into Swedish Tradition with the Sankta Lucia Festival and a review of the varied creative outlets offered by the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts. Living history
George Nelson, Fur Trader, as presented by the Minnesota History Players, will take viewers back to the fur-trading days of the early 1800s in a living history presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11. All ages are welcome to this free event, which is sponsored by the Blackduck Community Library with Minnesota Legacy Funds. Gallery North will hold a reception for its Author of the Month, Beth Solheim, who will present an introduction to the first in the Sadie Witt Mystery Series, "At Witts End," at 1:30 p.m. n Saturday, Feb. 13. Solheim will read from her humorous mystery and meet the public.

Second Saturday Event at the Blackduck History Center will be the center's reopening celebration with an open house and their Fourth Annual Sweetheart Drawing, which includes a selection of prizes to be awarded at 3:55 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. Vocal concert
Mark Reeves will return to Bemidji for a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts. Jazz concert
The Bemidji Concert Series will feature Doc Severinsen and El Ritmo De La Vida at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Bemidji High School auditorium. - Calls for Artists - Bemidji First City of the Arts Studio Cruise is alerting artists within a 40-mile radius of Bemidji to apply to be part of this year's events. The cruise is an opportunity for artists to invite the public into their studios, showcase their art and craft.
