The First Friday Art Walk in Bemidji will be Friday, Aug. 7, and will include the following participants:

- Bemidji Community Art Center will host its August First Friday Art Walk and Opening Reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, with an artist talk at 6 p.m., at 426 Bemidji Ave. The featured exhibit, titled "REVEAL" by John Bauer is an exhibit of photography and audio by Heidi Holton, featuring portraits and audio recordings of Itasca County individuals. Shop 426 will be open, with new inventory. All proceeds from Shop 426 benefit BCAC programming and the artists of Shop 426. The BCAC is free and open to the public. - Brigid's Cross Irish Pub will host its First Friday Art Walk and Opening Reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at 317 Beltrami Ave. N. This new venue will feature the exhibit "Erja + Mike=Art Show." The exhibit is a collaboration between Erja and Mike Wiltse showcasing paintings in oil and watercolor. Refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. After a two year hiatus from her work to finish school, this exhibit celebrates some of Brooke's favorite work, as well as reinvestment in her art. Brooke is a nature photographer with most of her work consisting of landscapes and macro work with flowers. Coffee and desserts will be provided during the reception. The Cabin is open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. For more details, call 444-2899.

- Gallery North welcomes nationally known artist, Linda Walker as their August Showcase Artist. An open house will be held from 2-5 p.m. Friday, at 502 Third St. N.W. Walker is best known for her oil paintings of wildlife and landscapes. Gallery North's featured artists for the month of August, are well known area oil painter Erma Stelter and Grace Garland, who works in acrylics and watercolor. The Author of the Month will be Bill Kruger. His book of tales for children titled "Mr. Euchre and other Northwood's Fables" is a collection of stories about woodland animals. His granddaughter, Serri (Miller) Robbins illustrated the book. Kari Miller, will be at the open house to present a reading of the book and meet with the audience.

A beginning/intermediate watercolor class titled 'Northwood's Birches," taught by Grace Garland and Marion Caroline Reil will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at 502 Third St. N.W. - Mask and Rose Women's Theater Collective and the Northwood's Folk Collective will host its First Friday Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Wild Rose Theater, 501 Bemidji Ave. Performer signup begins at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $2 per person or $5 for family. - Bemidji Public Library Art Wall will feature art from the "Be Creative @ Your Library" Summer Reading program for children in kindergarten-6th grades and "Express Yourself @ the Library" for older children and teens. - Wild Hare Bistro and Coffee House will present "Body Ornaments," works by Karen Bradley from Friday, Aug. 7-Monday, Aug. 31. An opening reception will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday, at 523 Minnesota Ave. Bradley uses seeds, shells, found objects, old jewelry and other found object which are crocheted or knitted together to make truly unique wearable pieces. She says "'Reduce, reuse recycle' are terms we've all become familiar with lately. I'd like to add the words 're-see' and 'rethink.'" Bradley is a longtime music teacher and singer of opera, oratorio and musical comedy and takes a special interest in making connections between the arts and general studies in school settings. Wild Hare also features its own culinary artists at the First Friday Wine Bar from 5-9 p.m., Friday with a new menu every month and a wine and beer list to match. For more details, call 444-JAVA.

- Bad Cat Creations Gallery and Gifts will feature a photography exhibit by Pamela Lee Johnson of Pamela Lee Photography. An opening reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, at 315 Irvine Ave. N.W. Johnson will speak about her nature and wildlife photography. Framed and matted prints will be available, as well as magnets and greeting cards. Refreshments will be served. Bad Cat Creations Gallery and Gifts is a boutique featuring art and fine craft by more than 35 different artists and an eclectic selection of fun gifts and contemporary accessories. - Dunn Bros Coffee will feature an exhibit, titled, "Feminine Fancy" by Terri Honstead. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at 501 Paul Bunyan Drive S. Honstead's show includes a variety of work featuring lace and flower paintings that are watercolor, watercolor collage and acrylic collage.
